2-for-3 on Monday, with OTELLO and CATCHING FREEDOM both winning at +170 odds.
Turfway Park - Race 5
#10 POOLSIDE WITH SLIM (12/1 ml)
First time starter for George Arnold worked a couple of times (once from the gate) with ON COMMAND, who emerged from those drills to finish second in a Gulfstream maiden race (at +270 odds) a couple of weeks ago. POOLSIDE WITH SLIM also worked with older 5yo BALI BELLE, who is 7-for-15 in the exacta lifetime, and came out of that drill to finish 4th in the My Charmer Stakes. More recently, POOLSIDE WITH SLIM worked with FIGGY, who exited that drill to win at Turfway Park last week. Looks live here at the big price.
#2 PROUD DIVI (15/1 ml)
First time starter for Cherie DeVaux worked from the gate a few weeks ago with OH REALLY, who came out of that drill to win at Turfway Park a week later (at +957 odds, with tonight’s listed rider Abel Cedillo aboard). Hard to ignore at the price.
#13 WHATSRIGHTISRIGHT (5/1 ml)
First time starter for Tom Amoss appeared to outwork older 5yo BOITANO in a best-of-44 drill last month, and note the pair’s workout time was over a full second faster than the next-fastest of the other 42 workers. BOITANO then came out of that drill to win at Turfway Park a couple of weeks later (at +220 odds, with rider Abel Cedillo abaord). WHATSRIGHTISRIGHT also worked from the gate recently with unraced BEAN MACHINE, who is entered on Friday (also with Abel Cedillo aboard). It’s perhaps notable that Abel Cedillo (whom Amoss is clearly using at Turfway Park) is instead named to ride the Cherie DeVaux trainee, and it should also be noted that Tom Amoss (although capable) doesn’t win with very many first-time starters these days (Amoss is 1-for-25 since winning with firster ALYS BEACH at Saratoga, with the lone winner coming at Delta Downs). Still though, it’s hard to overlook the speedy drill where WHATSRIGHTISRIGHT apparently outworked the older winner, with the two of them significantly faster than the rest of the large grouping).
